• What’s special about this year’s yoga day and solstice?

  • Ways to honor the day from wherever you are

  • A heart-led morning ritual and journal reflection

Dear beloved Wolfpack,

On June 21, the world pauses. The sun lingers at its peak for the solstice, and millions of us roll out our mats to celebrate International Yoga Day, a global wave of breath, stillness, and movement.

At the same time, the lunar calendar gifts us a waning crescent Moon in Taurus, a gentle guide toward grounding, self-respect, and slowing down into the pause. Taurus energies remind us to tend to our roots, nurture our voices, and honor stability.

This powerful blend, light standing still, a moon urging calm, makes June 21 the perfect moment to lean into our breath, presence, and planet-centered intention.

🌍 Yoga for One Earth, One Health

This year’s theme reminds us: our personal practice is inseparable from planetary care. At Breathe and Flow, we hold close the belief that movement strengthens the body, stillness calms the mind, guiding you to rediscover who you are, and why you're here. When we embody strength and awareness, we uplift not just ourselves, but our planet, because when the tide rises, all boats rise.

This theme speaks deeply to what yoga teaches us, that we are not separate from nature, but part of it. That how we breathe, eat, move, and live has a ripple effect beyond us.

Yoga supports individual health. But it also builds compassion. Awareness. Resilience. It helps us show up for each other and for the world.

Let this year’s celebration remind us: our practices are not just personal, they’re planetary.

So, how might you choose to honor this moment in your own way? We’ve gathered some of our favorite ways to celebrate, whether you have five minutes or a whole morning, there’s something here for everyone.

We’re releasing something special to mark the day 🎉

We’re excited to announce a brand new limited edition Breathe and Flow travel yoga mat to celebrate International Yoga Day. It’s another dope design (yes, we’re biased, but it really is that good), and we can’t wait for you to see it. Keep your eyes peeled for the drop announcement email this weekend, June 21, at noon Pacific Time. Don’t be late! 🔥

🌿 A Yoga Day Solstice Morning Ritual of Stillness & Reflection

Start your day with this nourishing practice, simple, heartfelt, and connected to Earth.

What you’ll need:

  • A warm, nourishing drink (ceremonial cacao encouraged!)

  • A journal and pen

  • A peaceful spot, indoors or under the open sky

Step‑by‑step:

  1. Prepare your drink slowly, mindfully. Thank the Earth for this nourishment.

  2. Sit tall. Breathe deeply, 10 full rounds of inhale and exhale.

  3. Hold the warm cup in your hands and breathe in the scent of the liquid.

  4. Sip intentionally, tuning into the sensation as you taste and swallow. Feel your feet or seat on the ground, your presence rooted in Earth’s embrace.

  5. Journal or reflect with invitation:

    • “What choices today can nourish me and nourish our planet?”

    • “Where can I bring calm strength out into the world?”

  6. If inspired to move, flow for a few moments or walk outside barefoot and connect with the soil beneath you. Imagine the soles of your feet are kissing the ground with every step.

Let your body ground, your mind soften, your heart open.

Treat yourself to a longer practice with movement, breathwork and meditation. It’s one of our Wolfpack faves!

More Ways to Celebrate the Solstice & International Yoga Day

  1. Practice Seva: Offer an act of kindness, help someone breathe easier, or pick up litter along your path. If you do this anonymously, feel how this lands in your heart.

  2. Move in Nature: Take your practice outdoors. Let the air, sun, and soil become part of your flow. Feel your place within the ecosystem.

  3. Try a New Class: Explore something new from our library! Perhaps try a bit of breathwork, a bandha practice or some mobility exercises to show your body and mind love in a different way.

  4. Gather Online: Create a small sacred circle, even virtually. Light candles. Meditate. Share what the solstice stirs within you.

  5. Reflect: At day’s end, journal on what emerged when you paused with breath and Earth. What stayed? What shifted?

  6. Practice Trataka (Candle Gazing): Gaze softly at a candle flame to still the mind and sharpen inner awareness. A beautiful way to honor the light of the solstice.

  7. Give Yourself Abhyanga (Ayurvedic Self-Massage): Use warm oil (such as sesame or coconut) and apply with gentle, rhythmic strokes—always moving towards the direction of the heart. This grounding daily ritual supports the nervous system, improves circulation, calms the mind, and deepens your connection to self.

  8. Begin with an Ayurvedic Cleanse: Start the day with warm lemon water or turmeric tea, scrape your tongue, and gently awaken the senses, an Ayurvedic morning reset.

  9. Chant or Meditate on a Mantra: Let your breath carry a mantra like Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu (May all beings be happy and free). Repeat it aloud or within, allowing peace to ripple outward.

  10. Contemplate a Yama or Niyama: Reflect on a yogic principle like Ahimsa (non-violence) or Santosha (contentment). Journal or speak on how it can guide you today.

  11. Offer a Fire Ritual: If safe to do so, light a small fire or candle. Make an offering, an intention, a breath, a prayer, as a nod to the ancient connection between fire, transformation, and gratitude.

Whether you're flowing under the sunrise, sipping cacao before work, or sitting in stillness with your journal, thank you for being here.

Let’s keep raising the tide together.
